FATHER. LEADER. PUBLIC SERVANT.
As the father to twin teenage boys, Jason Pizzo understands the importance of creating a safe, prosperous future for Floridians.
Whether it was securing payments for thousands of Floridians during the unemployment crisis, aiding families after the building collapse in Surfside, or coordinating state and local resources for cities following major flooding events, Jason has been on the frontlines, embracing any challenge that his district faces. In times of chaos, he is decisive and steadfast in his leadership, delivering resources and providing crucial support for South Florida.
During his tenure as a Miami-Dade Assistant State Attorney, Jason relentlessly sought justice for victims, and the restoration of neighborhood vitality, as he prosecuted the shootings and homicides of children. While chairing the Senate’s Committee on Criminal Justice, Jason was unwavering in his dedication to creating safe neighborhoods by fortifying legislative resources for law enforcement. This commitment to public safety has earned him numerous awards, and the endorsements of state and local first responders.
Serving District 37 is both a great privilege and responsibility, that Jason does not take lightly. Representing all of coastal Broward, and parts of Miami-Dade County, he has a unique perspective on the issues most important to his constituents, and was chosen to serve as the vice-chair of the Florida Senate Select Committee on Resiliency.
You will often hear Jason advocating for policy reforms with a “legacy interest”. Not only does this mean leaving things better than he found it, it means investing in the planning and critical infrastructure of our communities now, so that our children and grandchildren may thrive in the generations to come. Entrusted as an able steward of our constituents’ tax dollars, Senator Pizzo also serves as the co-chair of the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee, which is empowered to penalize any public entity for neglecting their fiduciary duties to our communities.
Last year, Jason was unanimously elected by his colleagues to lead the Senate Democratic Caucus as Senate Minority Leader for the 2024-2026 sessions, and will be charged with producing critical legislation and appropriations for his constituents.
